How to play Mahjong Garden Solitaire

1

Find an open tile

A tile is playable when no tile covers it and at least its left or right side is free.

2

Match the face

Choose two open tiles with the same symbol. Suits, numbers, winds, dragons, and flowers must match exactly.

3

Open the stack

Remove high tiles and outer edges to reveal more choices. Clear every pair before the timer reaches zero.

Stuck?

Use Hint to reveal one playable pair. Shuffle rebuilds the remaining stack so another solution is available.

An original Mahjong Solitaire game for tile recognition

Mahjong Garden Solitaire is a casual single-player matching puzzle rather than a full four-player Mahjong round. It uses familiar tile faces to help new players recognize Dots, Bams, Craks, Winds, Dragons, and Flowers at a glance. The layered layouts, interface, scoring, and artwork are original to MRSFA. No annual card is required, and the game stores no personal information.

What makes a tile open?

A tile cannot be selected while another tile overlaps it from a higher layer. Once its top is clear, at least one horizontal side must also be open. This creates the central decision in Mahjong Solitaire: remove pairs that uncover useful tiles instead of choosing the first match you see.

Does this teach official Mahjong rules?

It teaches visual recognition and planning, not official scoring or hand construction. Use it as a quick warm-up, then read the American Mahjong rules for beginners when you are ready for real table play.
